Meet The Band

SIMON WARD (Si) - LEAD VOCALS

IMG_7045.JPG

Si's parents owned a pub in Dunfermline back when Karaoke was popular, and Si was the host on Friday and Saturday nights. His then girlfriend saw an advert in the Dunfermline Press from a rock covers band looking for a singer and encouraged him to get in touch, which he did reluctantly. It's one thing to sing in your own pub, but another in an actual band - but it was a meeting that was meant to be, and The Screaming Meemies were formed that night. For the next few years, the Meemies played mostly across Fife and Edinburgh but quickly moved up and were soon playing regularly in PJ Molloy's and the usual hot spots. They supported Deacon Blue and The Sawdoctors at a couple of gigs and partied as if they were Mötley Crüe. Sadly, the guitarist got a job overseas and they lost the drummer to an honest woman, and the Meemies were no more.

Si formed The Durangos with the remaining Screaming Meemies guitarist and the two played for the best part of ten years in everything from pubs, clubs, caravan parks, garages, kitchens, weddings, corporate gigs, off the back of lorries - you name it, they played it. Si's love of singers such as Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Steve Perry (Journey), Lou Gramm (Foreigner) and Ted Poley (Danger Danger) influenced his own singing, and Si loves to bring a big stage concert feel to every gig he does, nomatter where it is.

Si took a year off from singing prior to his little girl being born, but found that he missed gigging. By then The Durangos wasn't an option, but Si found The Big Groove, an established rock covers outfit playing Glasgow venues and hit it off with the guys there as if they'd been together for years. Si still plays across Glasgow with TBG and they're a busy band. Si also fronted Crackerman, a Glasgow-based classic rock band for a few years and had a great time with those guys. Find them and go see them.

Two years ago, Si answered one more ad; The Ultimate Rock Show was looking for a singer. Well, Si hadn't gigged in theatres and festivals before, but was up for the challenge. He loves the big stage and the intentions we have for the Show, and is ready and willing to give you a night you'll remember. Si is the biggest and loudest thing you'll see, and you'll definitely remember him and the show!

Si loves anything from the Eighties, which he still thinks was only twenty years ago. Cowboy boots, motorcycles, Jack Daniel's and power ballads are pretty much the order of the day, as well as putting on silly voices and telling those jokes that everyone else is afraid to.

DAVEY HARKNESS - DRUMS

IMG_2905.JPG

At the tender age of 16, Davey dragged his long-suffering (but supportive) dad to McCormack’s in Glasgow and walked out with his very first proper drum kit. It was a beautiful moment. For Davey, anyway. For the neighbours? Not so much.

Before long, he’d rounded up a gang of school friends who shared his obsession with loud guitars and even louder heroes — especially Status Quo, AC/DC, and his ultimate first love, the godfather of shock rock himself, Alice Cooper. From there, it was game on.

After tearing through numerous bands and venues across Lanarkshire and Glasgow, Davey’s passion for big hooks and bigger choruses steered him firmly toward 80s melodic rock. That road led him to Glasgow rockers Cry Havoc, where he recorded an album with Now & Then Records (later becoming Frontiers Records). Because why just play rock ‘n’ roll when you can put it on vinyl?

These days, Davey keeps a packed dance card. He pounds the skins for premier Alice Cooper tribute *Gallus Cooper*, bringing the theatre, the swagger, and the eyeliner to stages across the UK, the Channel Islands, Ireland, and even Holland.

He also drums for Scottish hard rockers *Lyin’ Rampant*, joining them on UK tours supporting rock heavyweights like Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow), Tygers Of Pan Tang, Heavy Pettin', and Robin McAuley (ex-Michael Schenker Group). Not bad for a lad who just wanted a drum kit.

When he’s not on tour, you’ll likely find him behind the kit with Glasgow covers outfit *Lucky 13*, keeping dancefloors bouncing in and around the city. Two of his bandmates also played with another covers band called Crackerman, which happened to be fronted by none other than Simon Ward.

Then came August 2025. A call from Simon. A last-minute step-in. The Rockore Festival in Lochgelly. The *Ultimate Rock Show*. A crowd of 5,000+ waiting to be entertained. Having previously seen footage of the band smashing another festival stage, there was really only one answer.

Of course he said yes.

And as they say… the rest is history

GEORGE KEENAN - GUITAR

IMG_5358.heic

George is our virtuoso guitar supremo and Musical Director. He has played guitar since man discovered music and as such has an incredible ear for it.

You know the song 'Wild Thing' by The Troggs? Of course you do. George played lead guitar with them for a while becoming great friends with lead vocalist Reg Presley

George later became the founding member of Joe's Band who were a Fife-based rock covers band enjoying huge popularity across Scotland for a number of years, and he is a well-known face amongst many musicians on the scene.

George is also currently enjoying a nice little sideline as a part-time Clint Eastwood lookalike, but draws the line at owning an Orangutan.

ELAINE GREEN - VOCALS

URS.jpg

Elaine was born singing and continued to sing her way through her school years. She turned professional later in life after having her family with a solo career that spanned two and half decades performing nationally and internationally as far away as Dubai. During that time, she launched her own vocal coaching platform called Soul Accord, and (with her lifelong friend & choreographer Louise Mclaughlin) the production company Red2Green Productions. This partnership produced numerous theatre stage shows, most notably a celebration of the music of Celine Dion. During their ten years together Elaine and Louise sold out many larger theatre venues including Carnegie Hall, Rothes Halls, Lochgelly Centre and York Theatre. After a few years break to study a degree, Elaine has returned to the stage and re-ignited her passion for singing and live music and performance.

Elaine has done more for us for the website and social media in one week than the rest of us have done in a year, and we'd be lost without her talent both on and off the stage. An absolute legend of a person, she's terrifically funny and can sing Heart as well as Ann Wilson herself. She may actually be the same height as Ann Wilson, come to think of it...!

GRAEME ANDERSON - KEYBOARDS

IMG_4743.JPG

Graeme is a maestro keyboard player with many years' experience playing in a wide range of different bands.

He particularly enjoys playing with this band in light of the amazing talent of each of the players - his own words which he's given without bribery or torture from us!  Graeme loves presenting the music as faithfully and accurately as we possibly can to the original recordings and has the kit and talent to do it.

The range of material we play is also a challenge that he enjoys as it encompasses a wide range of classic rock numbers that an audience is guaranteed to reignite happy memories from the past.

Graeme was classically trained and was awarded a music scholarship to school primarily for his piano playing but remains modest about it, saying that 'A true rock musician is fully qualified without necessarily having had any formal tuition'. We just reckon he rocks.

RENATO VOROS - BASS

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Renato started playing bass guitar at the age of twelve. In 2006 he finished college as an Audio Video Multimedia Technician. From there he went on to open his first production company called Rock and Records where he recorded more than one hundred audio and video recordings for bands and toured as a member of the band Csakazetis. After the break-up of Csakazertis in 2018 he withdrew from the public eye to live on a mountain in the middle of the forest, far from everything, with four dogs. In 2017, he released his first solo album, Hozzád szól. Alongside the release of the album, he organised a talent search festival and recorded video and audio material for young musicians, as well as making music videos for the country's best-known and most talented musicians. In 2019, Renato moved to Scotland where he set up the Scotland Cut Video Factory in 2023 - and released his second solo album. In the Autumn of 2024 Renato joined the Ultimate Rock Show and can't wait to bring his high energy performances to you. "I love music because it can give the poorest and the richest people the same experience. I believe in the flow of energy and that we humans can have a positive impact on our environment."
